DSU Student Teachers

Over the past month, we have had 8 Delta State University seniors observing our 6th grade classes.  On Wednesday, they taught five subjects to our students.  It was great practice for the DSU students, and they did a super job!  We wish them well as they graduate and begin their careers in education.

Earthquake Projects

The students did research to discover how architects design buildings to withstand earthquakes.  Then they each built their own 4-story building, and we tested them to see which ones would withstand our artificial earthquakes (a shaking table).  Some remained standing, but we had several disasters!  They learned how buildings are created for earthquake zones, though!

Veterans Day

Thursday, November 11, was a very special day for the sixth graders.  We started the day with the whole school attending the flag raising ceremony, and Shawn and Logan led the school in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Then the 6th graders sang for the residents at Long Term Care.  From there, we went to the courthouse for the Veterans Day ceremony.  The fifth graders joined us, and they sang patriotic songs to honor our veterans.  It was a very memorable day.

Hero Day

On Wednesday, November 10, the students dressed up as their heroes.  They came to school dressed as soldiers, teachers, doctors, and athletes, just to name a few.
