FUN AT RECESS

SECRET FOOTAGE!!

I love playing our theme song, "Voice of Truth," in the classroom and listening to the kids sing quietly while they work.  One day, I secretly recorded them singing!

THE PREPOSITION SONG!

They have done a great job of learning their prepositions through music.  This was our first day to try singing the whole song, so the last part is shaky.

New Song practicing "Everlasting God" (September 2010)

"Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord....
You are the Everlasting God - the Everlasting God.
You do not faint.  You won't grow weary.
You're the Defender of the weak.
You comfort those in need.
You lift us up on wings as eagles."

Archaeology Project

We divided into 8 groups, and each group hid 8 artifacts in a pan for another group to find.
Each group then went to an "excavation site."  Their first job was to create grids...
...using golf tees and string.
They worked really well together.
It was interesting to see the different designs they used.
Then they had to draw diagrams of their grids.... labeled correctly!

Finally I let them dig!
They had to document all of the artifacts they found.  For example, "Paper clip at D-4."
This group found sunglasses!
Some groups found unidentified artifacts, and had to guess how they might have been used.
We had a fun time learning how archaeologists work at an excavation site.

New Song singing "Voice of Truth"

"Voice of Truth" is our theme song for 6th grade this year.  They sound great singing it!
