First Week Update

Our year has gotten off to a great start.  Thursday and Friday were spent getting to know our new sixth graders and getting them familiar with our routines and procedures.  We have talked a lot about the responsibilities and privileges that come with being sixth graders, and they are eager to be leaders of the school.  Mrs. Burd came to our rooms this morning and told us that she has never seen a sixth grade class line up as orderly and quietly as these kids did when leaving the fellowship hall this morning.  Needless to say, Mrs. Kline and I were very pleased, and we rewarded them with some extra recess time.  Even in the heat, they were glad to be playing!

One of the themes that Mrs. Kline and I are focusing on this year is I WILL CHOOSE TO BELIEVE THE VOICE OF TRUTH, based on the Casting Crowns song, "Voice of Truth."  This song states how the world tries to beat us down and tell us that we can't do things, but that God's Word tells us the opposite.  The Bible, the Voice of Truth, says that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made," that God will "never leave us or forsake us," and that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."  These are just a few of the truths that we are stressing to your children every day.

Here are some pictures of the students working hard with partners on the first day.
